Are you trying to incorporate more eco-friendly products into your home but not sure where to begin? I’ve been there. But thankfully (and conveniently) there are so many great eco-friendly products on Amazon that can help get you to begin your journey to sustainability.
*I just want to give a quick note to watch out for companies that are “greenwashing”. Greenwashing is basically when companies claim that they are “green” or “eco-friendly” but are, in reality, quite the opposite. An example is when clothing companies use “natural” or “recycled” materials while the clothing is actually developed through exploitative conditions. Genuine companies would definitely provide more information on energy, water conditions, greenhouse gas emissions, etc. You can read more information about greenwashing here.
**I also want to note that the #1 way to be eco-friendly is to use what you already have! Save and clean mason jars and cosmetic containers to re-use. Mend holes in your clothes or swap clothing with friends. Buy second hand or simply do without if you can. I talk more about this in this Instagram Post.
While re-using and repairing is key to sustainability, sometimes you just need to buy something new, and that’s totally okay!! But rather than going to Walmart and buying the first product you see on the shelf, try being more conscious about your purchases and support more eco-friendly businesses! I’ve checked out the products and businesses below and I feel pretty good about supporting them.

Here are 8 Eco-Friendly Products on Amazon for a More Sustainable Life.
1. Bamboo Toothbrushes
These biodegradable bamboo toothbrushes are such an easy swap from your conventional plastic toothbrushes. However, instead of staying in the landfill for hundreds of years, they are biodegradable! The handle is made from bamboo and the bristles are made from 100% biodegradable soft and medium bristle, nylon, bamboo fiber, or corn fiber. They are also very reasonably priced. Check them out! I use and love these.
2. Glass Spray Bottles
In my home, I use these glass spray bottles all the time for my homemade cleaning sprays. I have a recipe here for my favourite Lemon All-Purpose Cleanser. We also use these bottles to display soap on my counter and refill with bulk hand and dish soap (check out your local health or bulk store to see if they have refill options!). However, in the name of zero-waste, if you already have a spray bottle laying around, re-use that before purchasing any new ones, no matter how pretty the amber glass is!
3. Reusable Silicone Food Bags
These silicone bags are a great replacement to conventional “Ziploc” bags. However, instead of throwing them in the trash after one use, you can use them over and over again. It’s little swaps like this that can make a big impact! I got some of these for Christmas and I have been loving them (thanks Mom!). I love using them to store bananas in my freezer for smoothies!
4. Reusable Produce Bags
On a similar note as above, these reusable produce bags are amazing. I have never been one to use disposable plastic produce bags too often at grocery stores. My fruit and veggies go commando in the cart! However, these produce bags are great for nuts and seeds at the bulk store or smaller, more delicate items at the grocery store like tomatoes or baby potatoes. These are now a must-have for me! This brand comes with a variety of different bag sizes without any plastic packaging – bonus.
5. Compostable Loofah
Instead of using plastic-based loofahs that would eventually end up in a landfill, try out this natural alternative. Natural loofahs made from plant material, so they are completely compostable after you are done with them!
6. Filtered Water Dispenser
Most of us know of the immense environmental impact that disposable water bottles have on the planet. However, if you need a refresher, this is a great article.
You can make a huge impact on the amount of plastic waste you produce by switching out your disposable water bottles for a filtered water dispenser. The one that we have been using is the Zero Water Filter and we love it. It is supposedly better than a Brita at filtering your water. It comes with a water quality meter so you can test when the filter needs to be changed. I also love that it has a spigot and a spout for dispensing water. I would highly recommend checking it out!
7. Insulated Travel Mug
We go through something like half a trillion disposable cups each year, or about seventy cups for every person on the planet. Most of these cups are made out of virgin materials (i.e. real trees, not recycled paper) to meet hygiene requirements. Doesn’t sound very sustainable, does it? Well, that’s because it isn’t. Read more here!
Another awful thing about most paper takeout cups is that they are lined with a plastic lining inside (only about 5% of the cup!) to prevent leakage. However, this means that it can’t be recycled.
So bringing your own reusable cup (or a mug at the coffee shop) is the best option. Let me just say that this is still one that I struggle with. But I am getting better at remembering to bring my reusable mug (and reusable water bottle) with me! It is just a habit that you have to create and I find it’s easier when you have a mug you love, like this gorgeous Yeti one!
8. Natural Dish Sponge
These Natural Bamboo Kitchen Sponges are a great alternative to a conventional, disposable sponge. These are made out of natural fibres (mainly bamboo) and can be washed in the washing machine to reuse over and over again. Paired with some natural dish soap, you’ll have some sparkling clean, chemical-free dishes in no time!
