Previously, I made a post about my favourite plant-based options in Kingston, ON. This past summer, I moved from Kingston to Montreal. So I’ve now had over five months to try so much of the delicious plant-based food that Montreal has to offer. Here are some of my current favourite plant-based options in Montreal, QC.
Antidote
Antidote is right in our neighbourhood, so we have visited there frequently. They always have consistently tasty, fresh and comforting meals. We had a borscht soup there once that knocked our socks off. Definitely one to check out if you’re in the Hochelaga-Maisonneuve area.
LOV
We love to go to LOV for brunch. Their tofu benny is incredible and they serve amazing coffee. However, they’re also open for lunch and dinner, and they have a few locations in and around the city.
Lola Rosa
Lola Rosa is another restaurant that has a few locations in the city. One fun thing about their restaurant (at least at the one location we went to) is that each table has a drawer in it and guests will leave little notes in there. They’re super entertaining (and sometimes touching) to read during your meal. Their polenta fries are amazing, but so is everything else I’ve had there. I’d also recommend making a reservation in advance via their website, as they’re usually quite busy.
Jones Café
Jones Café is another amazing plant-based option in our neighbourhood. The service is always friendly, the food comes out super quick, and they offer a variety of delicious plant-based options. My favourite item to order is the Kale Caesar. I’ve also had a few delicious lattes, as well.
Aux Vivres
We were so in love with Aux Vivres when we first came to Montreal and went to both locations many times. They really check all of the boxes — they offer delicious food that is also healthy, a cozy atmosphere, and BRUNCH! My favourite meal to get is the Deluxe bowl with tofu.
Burger Fiancé
This has become one of my go-to’s. They are located in the beautiful Old Port and offer some amazing plant-based burgers and the BEST milkshakes (try a strawberry one). They also have some amazing sides like their Kimchi Fries. So good for dine-in or takeout.
Maynard
Maynard has all of your comfort food classics. Their fried tofu sandwich is incredible and their meat-free chicken and waffles were even better. They also offer plant-based fried pickles and cheese sticks (I haven’t had either yet, but they’re high on my list to try next)! Check out the reel I made during one of our visits.
La Beignerie
On Rue Saint-Denis, you’ll find La Beignerie. They offer the most amazing, creatively-flavoured doughnuts. My favourites (so far) are either their Creme St-Denis (like a Boston Cream) or their À En Tomber Dans Les Pommes (like an apple fritter). They also serve coffee and drinks! Check out this reel I made during one of my visits.
Those are currently all of my favourite plant-based options in Montreal — however, there’s still so much more to try! I will continue to update this list as I eat my way through Montreal.
